There are three themes for the competition:

1. Zac's Technique in the Street: This theme focuses exclusively on street photography. A "Zac" shot conveys the essence of the story while only showing a piece of it. Email: cameronscott386@virginmedia.com

2. Night Stories: This theme highlights the significance of the narrative aspect in street photography. The night is a mysterious creature, leaving us to wonder about what we cannot see. Email: photopalis@gmail.com

3. Self-portraits: This theme for the artistic projects section should include at least five images. Email: correlodelfim@gmail.com

1. Zac's Technique in the Street: cameronscott386@virginmedia.com

This technique captures the essence of a story by showing only a piece of it. The zac is a composition in the camera, where details and stories are captured dynamically and with feeling. It is a moment, not necessarily the decisive moment, of a frozen scene where details speak.

Zac means zero post-processing crop. It's about capturing the perfect shot in camera. The challenge is to create a story from a single shot without any cropping or editing. However, you are still allowed to process the image as usual to bring out the best in it. The background and juxtaposition of body parts will be important. Pay attention to depth of field and composition to create a visually engaging photograph. You can find some examples of what a Zac shot looks like at https://www.facebook.com/notes/1111209099275920

Progressive Street on FB

Hey guys, we’ve decided to run three challenges, Zac's Technique in the Street and Night Stories in Progressive Street and Self-portraits in Out of Bounds on FB. They tie in with the ProgresFestival and will run until June 15.

Many of you prefer the informality of our Challenges so here’s your chance to get your images in front of the judges. But, we must stress, 20 images only, so don’t go crazy in the first week; number them when you post, and make sure you send your best over the coming weeks. (Tag #zac  #night  #self ) Each week, we will choose an image among those awarded in the Galleries, and it will be published on the Festival website, thus participating in the Festival itself. At the end of the Challenge, other images will be chosen to participate in the Festival and will be published on the Festival website pending the final judgment of the judges.  Only a pic per day!

Instagram

On the occasion of the ProgresFestival we want to launch the hashtags #zacprogressive and #nightprogressive #selfprogressive on Instagram. The best photos will be shown in the stories curated by @andreratto and @isabellecoordes

They and Anne Launcelott will send some photos for the festival website, giving participants the chance to appear in front of the jury.

Our Festival is not for profit. The goal is to discover and show images that are true testimonies of our time, without cultural stereotypes. Images that are not clichés. Images by photographers who document meaningful examples of life, stripped of all artifice. Images that awaken connections, provoke insights and inspire optimism.

We turn to photographers who are actively involved in daily life - yet specifically pursue street photography, documentary photography, and photojournalism without distinction between professionals and non-professionals.

We appeal to all photographers with a soul, because this trait is the impetus for all important forms of artistic, political and social expression. And all serious photographers reflect this trinity in their craft.
