Letter from Seoul 58

Taking a cue from both British travel writer Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989) and Japanese street photographer Hiroyuki Nakada (b. 1960), I enjoy nothing more than to walk the streets of the world as a photojournalist.

I’m retired, and answer to no one. The ability to move along streets with a camera from Seoul-to-New Delhi-to-Dublin-to-Seattle is a freedom devoutly to be wished.

For Adjudicated Rapist-in-Chief Donald Trump, the three strikes rule against Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson (female, Democrat, and a Socialist), makes the city a ready-made target for some Gestapo blood in the streets.

Like any major city, Seattle is not without problems – yet Trump’s Gestapo, J6er thugs, have left the city alone ... as of this writing.

Montana is often called God’s Country – and rightly so, especially from Billings-to-Missoula. Yet no one can dispute that Montana residents exemplify the American spirit of independence, and a recent No Kings rally in Missoula is serious business about how many folks regard Trump’s attempt to rule as a monarch.

Seoul is the epicenter of K-pop, K-dramas, and global entertainment, housing major talent agencies, production studios, and music venues that draw international fans and industry figures. Boasting some of the world’s fastest internet speeds, tech giants like Samsung, and digital landmarks like Digital Media City, Seoul offers a ultra-modern environment for digital nomads and tech-driven talent.

For me, it’s home and I’m damn glad.
