When I'm on my travels, I sometimes blog
Jazz festival
On Saturday November 8, I set out on a walk going east from my hotel in Shinjuku to see a photo exhibition by Junpei Kurashina. Me and Junpei had met before, in 2019. We met through our common friend, Gerri McLaughlin. Gerri took me to see a group exhibition with some Japanese photographers in Shibuya and Junpei was one of them. Now, when he saw I was in Tokyo, he reached out on facebook to invite me to come see his current solo exhibition in a small gallery in eastern Shinjuku.
It opened for the day at 1 pm, so I took my time to take many shots and walk slowly and follow interesting sights along the way. One fun and unexpected thing that happened was that I found myself in the middle of a small jazz festival, set up on four "scenes" in a couple streets. Boy, those bass tubas sure are photogenic!
After seeing Junpeis exhibition, I walked back and got some more jazz! After that I went to Shinjuku station and bought train tickets for my Osaka excursion, later in the month.
Take care everybody!
