Hi!
My fifth day in Kolkata was a Sunday, October 25. As the traditional Gallif Street pet market is held on Sundays, this was our obvious choice for the day's shooting. Three years ago, on my first visit to Kolkata, I had a great time shooting this market.
Me and Calvin arrived at about 7 a.m. Shubhodeep was still en route, so we did a walkthrough of the market street. I have to say I was disappointed! The only pets were aquarium fish and just a few birds. No dog puppies, rabbits, parrots or poultry... The market is now more of a plant market than a pet market. Nothing wrong with that, but not what I had expected. We still did two more passes when Shub had arrived. He then suggested we would make our way to a place called Koley Market close to Sealdah station. There's a lot of market activity in the street, but the indoor part is what Shub took us there for.
After an hour or so, we went on our separate ways. The rest of the day was quiet.
Be well!
