When I'm on my travels, I sometimes blog
Hi guys!
Time for my live blog again after some time away from it.
This day was September 2nd, 2025. The day before, I flew to Rome from my home, Umeå, in northern Sweden.
And the day before that was my last day as an employed person! Yes, I have retired from work. From a job I had for 35 years, with another 8 years doing similar work, but without pay, while I was at University. I have been a coach of jumpers and sprinters within the sport of athletics, also known as track and field in American English.
Back to Rome! I went out after breakfast and did a 4 hour walk around Monti, the area roughly between Termini Station and the Colosseum. By the end of it, I walked a bit west to have some ice cream at the famous Gelateria Fassi, with roots from 1880.
After a longish rest in the hotel room, eating some fruit to complete lunch after the ice cream, I went out again for another 4-hour evening walk. This time going first north of Termini and the southwest, ending up at the Spanish steps. Back to the hotel with a stop at a simple restaurant for a seafood dinner and a glass of wine.
