When I'm on my travels, I sometimes blog

Paris 3

On Wednesday, September 17, I took a long walk past Pere Lachaise cemetery to Belleville. It's a hilly part of Paris, which has a character slightly different from that of other parts of the city, perhaps. Primarily, I walked up the hill on Rue de Ménilmontant and down on Rue des Pyrénées and Rue de Belleville, with some excursions on side streets. After reaching the Belleville metro, I crossed the boulevard and walked down Rue du Faubourg du Temple all the way to Place de la République.
I wasn't done for the day, so I continued west on Boulevard St Martin past the Porte St Martin and turned right at the Porte St Denis up Rue du Faubourg St Denis. It was very lively there, people had started to leave their places of work and were filling up the seats outside the cafés and bars and a lot of people were doing their grocery shopping. After a while, I turned 180 degrees and walked back on the other side of the street.
After this I was feeling quite tired and hungry as I hadn't really had any lunch. But I continued down Rue St Denis and turned left at Rue Réaumur. After 3-4 blocks down that street I found a table at Café des Arts et Métiers at the metro stop with that name. I sat outside and there were many tables and all of them were full. The crowd was noisy, the traffic was noisy, but I felt great in that noise, leaning back with a beer in my hand and a steak frites on my plate.
The city was dark as I walked all the way to the hotel, making this my longest walk of this trip.
Be well everybody,
Niklas
