In Between the Lines, England 2026 by Gabi Ben Avraham

Manchester

A game of light, colour, and unexpected moments in British urban life.

In August 2026, I embarked on an exhilarating two-week photographic journey across Britain by train, aiming to immerse myself in and capture the authentic daily rhythm of its vibrant urban landscape. My route took me through the country's contrasting atmospheres, from the dynamic energy and unique character of Liverpool and Manchester to the charming nostalgia of Blackpool's seaside, culminating in the electrifying experience of the Notting Hill Carnival in London.

As a photographer, my signature style is characterised by sharp contrasts, intense sunlight, and the captivating interplay of light and shadow. However, the unpredictable British weather presented constant challenges. On glorious sunny days, I seized the opportunity to capture striking geometric shadows and vivid colours. Conversely, during rainy, overcast days, I was pushed to dig deeper, uncovering human stories and unexpected moments set against muted skies. This journey was not just about photography; it was about connecting with the essence of British urban life.
